ADROIT MEDICAL SYSTEMS COMMITS TO IMPROVING PUBLIC HEALTH THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVE

ADROIT MEDICAL SYSTEMS Joins Hospitals for a Healthy Environment

June 8, 2006, Loudon, Tennessee - Today, Adroit Medical Systems pledged to become a Champion for Change in the Hospitals for a Healthy Environment (H2E) program, a landmark initiative to improve environmental performance in health care.

As an H2E Champion, Adroit Medical Systems has agreed to work with its member hospitals to implement pollution prevention programs aimed at reducing the volume and toxicity of hospital waste. Adroit Medical Systems is an advocate for mercury free equipment and reduction in the amount of PVC used to make single use disposables (SUDs).

H2E’s mission is the transformation of the health care sector to embrace safer building products, clean air, energy and water efficiency, safe working practices, and a commitment to public health demonstrated through waste volume and toxicity reduction. As a non-profit organization jointly founded by the American Hospital Association, the Environmental Protection Agency, Health Care Without Harm, and the American Nurses Association, H2E educates health care professionals about pollution prevention opportunities, rewards the sector’s best performers, and provides a wealth of practical tools and resources to facilitate the industry's movement toward environmental sustainability.

The H2E Champions for Change program recognizes organizations that promote H2E within the health care field. H2E Champions provide vital assistance to health care facilities that are becoming providers of “healthy health care” with the support of H2E.

“Adroit Medical Systems is helping to change the culture of the health care industry by developing new and innovative ways to combat pollution from health care products and practices,” said Laura Brannen, Director of the Hospitals for a Healthy Environment program. “Adroit Medical Systems is committing to making changes in the way they do business, in order to help health care facilities reduce their collective impact on the environment and improve community health.”

“We believe that providing quality healthcare means caring both for patients and the environment in which we live,” said Scott Gammons, Adroit’s Vice Presidemt. “Improving health care’s environmental performance is a critical step toward improving public health and we’re proud to do our part.”
